The guys know right away if the engine they're tearing down for overhaul has been treated with Avblend. The main difference is looking at the piston sidewalls and the exhaust valve guides. Any aircraft engine without Avblend will have burned oil and coke deposits all around the exhaust guides, and will have scrapes on the sides of the pistons.

Any engine with Avblend kept in it's oil will have perfectly clean, almost brand new looking guides and the pistons will be basically scratch free and clean. It's definitely a very good product, and it's not snake oil by any means.

The only thing I question is what differences occur when using it in an automobile engine Zmax Auto oils have different additives and are much thinner. Auto engines have a completely different environment, and lead free fuel. I don't know if automotive oils will prevent the Zmax from reaching it's proven potential that it has on aircraft engines.
