Money will be raised by asking restaurant patrons to donate a loonie to the Breakfast Club of Canada for each plate cleared from their table with uneaten food leftover. Donations are voluntary. The restaurants have also pledged to donate one cent for every clean plate that comes back to the kitchen.

Restaurant owners Shraey and Aman Gulati said they wanted to give back to the Brampton and Mississauga communities. At the same time, the brothers explained, they want to highlight how much food goes in the garbage when there is so many hungry people in the community and reduce that waste.
